Teen ADHD Evaluation & Treatment in San Jose
ADHD care for high school students and teens, with parents closely involved. Evaluations, medication management, school documentation, and support for the jump to college.
When high school gets harder
Middle school often has enough structure to hide ADHD. High school adds more classes, more homework, longer projects, and less day-to-day help keeping track of it all. That is often when grades slip, arguments about homework get more frequent, and a capable teen starts to believe they just aren't smart enough.
ADHD can also look different in teens than in younger kids. Hyperactivity often fades into restlessness, and the bigger problems become organization, time management, and follow-through.
Signs of ADHD in teens
Common signs of ADHD in teens include missing assignments even when the work was done, leaving everything until the night before, losing track of time, belongings, and deadlines, and having trouble getting started on homework. Many teens with ADHD feel frustrated, lose confidence, or become anxious about school, and some make impulsive decisions or take risks. A telling sign is a teen who does much better with one-on-one attention than in a regular class.
BrainHelp sees teens and families from San Jose, Campbell, Santa Clara, Cupertino, Los Gatos, and across the South Bay.
