Why a student focus

Chester Profeta, PMHNP-BC, teaches at both the BSN and MSN PMHNP level. He works with students in demanding programs every week and knows what clinical rotations, long shifts, board exams, and heavy course loads actually ask of people.

That shapes how care is planned: visits scheduled around classes and clinicals, treatment timed around exam dates, and plans that account for early shifts, disrupted sleep, and programs where one exam can feel like everything.

What students come in for

Students most often come in for ADHD: losing focus while studying, procrastinating, and falling behind on readings. Many are dealing with test anxiety, blanking on exams or carrying the stress of the NCLEX, USMLE, or PANCE, and some are recognizing ADHD for the first time in college. Others need help with anxiety and panic attacks, depression and burnout, or trouble sleeping. BrainHelp also helps students get accommodations at school and supports them through taking, or returning from, a medical leave.

Students at San Jose State, Santa Clara University, and community colleges across the South Bay can be seen in person in San Jose or by telehealth from campus.
